Pushchairs FAQ

There is no specific rule for when to start using the seat instead of the carrycot as each baby is a different weight and size. In general we recommend you make the switch when the baby weighs around 9 kilos (at about 9 months old).

According to European Standard EN 1888 the maximum weight authorised for pushchairs is 15 kilos, this is the equivalent of a child of approximately 3 years old.

As shown in our instructions, the maximum authorised weight for our pushchairs is the same as the weight stated in the European Standard (15 kilos). But all our models have been tested and approved to carry an additional 4 kilos in the basket.

Although in reality our pushchairs could carry more weight, we recommend you observe the limits established by the regulations.

The parasol on your Jané pushchair is made of materials that have been specially designed to offer maximum protection against ultraviolet rays, both UVB and UVA. Their protection factor is 50+, the highest level a fabric can reach. UPF 50+.

Although your pushchair comes equipped with a range of accessories as standard, at Jané we also offer other additional accessories, compatible with our prams and pushchairs, to make your life that bit easier. Have a look at all our accessories by clicking on this link.

The Jané carrycots have been designed so the baby can sleep well and be comfortable. However, we do not recommend you use the carrycot as a substitute for a cot. Cots are more spacious and above all they are designed specifically for babies to sleep in.

If you need to sleep away from home and you do not have an available cot, the best solution we offer are the travel cots, which are light, and easy to fold and carry.

The Jané pushchairs fold up very small making them easier to carry on any plane journey. You can take your Jané pushchair right up to the boarding gate and when you get there the airline company personnel will take the pushchair to the aircraft hold along with the rest of the luggage. At the end of the flight, your pushchair will be given back to you when you get off the plane.

If you have any other questions about flying we recommend you contact the airline company with whom you will be travelling.

The upholstery of the Jané pushchairs is made from special materials that repel water, protect from the wind, are breathable and are especially long-lasting and very resistant to stains over the course of their use.

PRO-FIX SYSTEM GENERATION is the ergonomic system that allows you to quickly and easily attach and remove all the Jané carrycots and baby carriers from the chassis or Isofix platform. With just one simple movement and two attachment points you can fit any component onto the chassis without the need for “connectors”.

To fit the baby carrier or carrycot onto the chassis you just need to perform one single vertical movement and fit the item into the slots of the two attachment points without having to manoeuvre the chassis in any other way.

To detach an item, pull the two buttons found on the sides and with one simple movement the baby carrier or carrycot will be detached from the chassis or any Isofix platform.

Safety FAQ

According to European Regulation ECE R129: “it is advisable to replace the safety seat with a new one when it has been subjected to violent stress after an accident”.

From now on, Jané will replace your safety seat for an identical one (or one with similar characteristics depending on availability) if your car is involved in an accident while the safety seat is installed.

Get in touch with us to find out about the details of this campaign.

A friend or relative may lend you a safety seat for your vehicle or you may buy a second hand car seat. In this case our answer is emphatic, we do not recommend the use of send hand car safety seats.

If you use a second hand car safety seat that has already been used, you don’t know what might have happened to it, you don’t know the tensions it may have been subjected to or whether it has been involved in a collision. The safety seat could have any type of internal defect that may not be visible to the naked eye. That’s why, with safety being our number one priority, we strongly advise against this practice.

All the Jané safety seats are created at the JANÉ CRASH TEST RESEARCH CENTER, the only private crash tunnel in Spain for researching child safety.

As it is at our factory in Barcelona, we can use the Crash Test as many times as we need. And that’s how we can offer you the most tested seats on the market and with the strictest certification of Europe.

The new standard means that Child Restraint Systems are significantly safer than under the terms of the R-44 regulation, which dates back to the 90s. The i-Size standard aims to improve protection and safety based on 6 specific points:

The i-Size standard states that the safety seat can only be installed in the car using Isofix anchors + an anti-rotation system (top tether or support leg).

I-Size abandons the previous classification of safety seats grouped by weight in favour of a new classification that is easier to understand: by height in cm.

The i-Size standard has been developed together with car manufacturers to guarantee complete compatibility between the safety seats and cars.

Under the terms of the i-Size standard, car safety seats may only be used in the forward facing position when the child is at least 15 months old, although the recommendation is for the child to travel in the rear facing position for as long as possible.

The new i-Size standard adds side impact to the front and rear crash tests.

The new dummies (Q series) are designed based on the size of the current population, with materials that reproduce human behaviour better and they are also fitted with new sensors that detect the force applied to the most sensitive parts of the human body.

If you would like to find out more about the i-Size standard you can see more information here.

Currently in Europe there are 2 standards, there is Regulation ECE R-44 and there is the new i-Size standard. Both these standards class safety seats differently according to the child’s weight and height respectively.

You can check whether your Jané safety seat is compatible with your car by clicking on this link.

Remember that it may take a while to give you an answer as we value safety above all else, that’s why we have to make absolutely sure by carrying out all the relevant tests before we can give you an answer.
